Which Wellies Does Kate Middleton Wear?

Kate Middleton Le ChameauThere are few women as admired for their fashion choices as Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales. While fashionistas across the globe closely follow Kate’s every sartorial step, her choice of footwear is what interests us at Team Chelford the most…

Even royalty can’t avoid wet weather, and while Catherine has been a long-time fan of Penelope Chilvers (often known as the Kate Middleton boots) when it comes to wellies there’s another brand that the princess favours…

Le Chameau wellies are Kate’s top choice for keeping warm and dry during the wet and muddy months. The Princess has been regularly spotted wearing these wellington boots over the years; from official royal engagements to private outings at the polo or walks on the beach, wherever there is chance of wet or muddy feet, you can guarantee Kate will be wearing a pair of these quality rain boots.

Zara Tindall Fairfax and FavorAnd Kate isn’t the only royal who is a fan of Chameau boots. Just last month, Zara Tindall, daughter of Princess Anne and celebrated 5* event rider, was spotted at Gatcombe horse trials sporting Fairfax wellies. The L’Alliance boots are a collaboration between Fairfax and Favor and Le Chameau and bring together the best of both brands: Fairfax has given the L’Alliance its signature style, scallop edging and tassels that are synonymous with the Fairfax Regina boots, while the neoprene lining and quality rubber is inherited from Chameau’s iconic Vierzonord boot.

Le Chameau Wellies

If they’re good enough for Kate, they’re good enough for us! Our team of countryside enthusiasts at Chelford have been long-time fans of Chameaus, and here is a breakdown of exactly why we (and the Princess) love them so much:

  1. They are built to last

Too often wellington boots will develop holes, splits or tears which then deem them unusable. Not ideal when you’re spending a fair amount of money on a pair of boots to keep you dry! Why do wellies split? Boots tend to split because they aren’t flexible, therefore don’t move with the wearer which then causes the rubber to stiffen, dry and crack. Chameau wellies are made from the brand’s unique Chamolux rubber, which is both supple and flexible to prevent cracking or splitting. This high-quality rubber means that these wellies truly are built to last.

  1. They come with a two year warranty

As above, these boots really are built to last. Le Chameau are so sure of the longevity of their boots that each pair comes with a two year warranty. So, in the unlikely event that something should happen to your welly boots within the first two years, the brand will replace them for you. Kate Middleton Wellies

  1. They’re extremely warm

The Le Chameau Vierzonord is the perfect welly for cold weather. Why is that, we hear you ask? Because the 3mm neoprene lining provides excellent insulation to help keep the cold out. These wellies are so cosy that they have been comfort rated in temperatures as low as -15°C!

  1. They look great

There’s no denying that the timeless style of these wellington boots has a certain simplistic charm. No fuss, no frills, these wellies are a classic design that, despite being French-made and designed, exudes traditional British style.

  1. They have options

While Le Chameau neoprene lined wellies are without doubt the most-popular style in the collection, there’s also the jersey lined Vierzon boot and leather lined Le Chameau Chasseur. So for winter wearing the neoprene lining is definitely our top choice, but for summer weather we’d say go for a cooler fabric such as the jersey found in the Le Chameau Iris.

  1. They provide a great fit

Le Chameau VierzonordAdjustable straps, waterproof gussets and full length zips are featured across the Chameau wellies range. This makes getting them on and off incredibly easy, and also adjusting the fit once you’re in the boots.

Princess Catherine knows a good boot when she sees one, which is why her go-to welly for wet weather is always these durable, comfortable and classically understated boots. At Chelford Farm Supplies we’re proud to be a leading Le Chameau stockist in the UK, stocking an extensive selection of the Princess’ favourite Vierzonord boots, as well as an extensive selection of other Chameau footwear.
